Holy Waters

A Fine, Wet Miracle. Photo by Michael Patrick McCarty

December 23, 2013

For some time now I have made a special effort to drink only water that I have collected and hauled from a high country spring, and I have no plans to quit anytime soon. It is some distance from my house and it takes a bit of time out of an otherwise busy day, and it would be so much easier to turn on the municipal tap or crack a cap of bottled water.

Is it worth the trouble, you might ask?

Well, yes it is, as a matter of fact, and in more ways than you might guess, would be my answer…

Drawn deep from a primordial source, this water is wild and whole and tastes of mountain and ancient sunlight. It flows steady and true and offers a host of special properties quite hard to define. It is alive, and it feels good just to be around it. In fact, it is all about how it makes you feel, this living water…

It is not something I wish to take for granted. It is a sobering fact…

JFK & The Day The Earth Stood Still

Michael Patrick McCarty

I don’t know what truly happened on the day that our President…my President, was shot and killed on November 22, 1963. I was only five years old at the time, and at the moment before his death I don’t believe I had any knowledge of a man called John F. Kennedy.

That awareness changed quickly as the news reached out over the car radio and my mother swung to the side of the road and cried. With heavy heart I remember it as clearly as it was yesterday.

The light may never shine upon the full complement of dark forces that came together on that day of fifty years ago. I may never discover who was really behind the assassination nor the ultimate reasons behind it. I only know that the official story is a fabrication and a farce which continues to be perpetuated by a state-run media which wishes to keep me baffled, distracted, and demoralized.

I don’t need to have all of the facts in possession to know that I have been lied to. The story is so patently untrue that my instincts would never let me believe such blatant propaganda.

But I cannot deny the long-lasting effects of such an “in your face” open air execution. Like a bullet with malicious intent, It has colored my world and altered the trajectory of my life, and yours, in so many ways that we can never recapture.

The assassination of JFK and the ongoing coverup is the ultimate example of fantastic fairy tales and manufactured public denial. It is the four hundred pound gorilla in a room full of plotting politicians and warmongers incessantly manipulating the long arm of the out of control police state.

I don’t know if the general public can ever fully shake the apathy and ignorance so skillfully induced and directed. But I do have hope.

The truth is out there.

It is time to shake off our collective stupor; to absorb and embrace the most unpleasant reality and let the chips fall where they may. Things may get worse before they get better, but things must change. The only way to arrive at the truth is to first strip away all that is false. To do otherwise will only continue to fuel our debilitating personal weariness and shame and the national collective guilt from which we may never heal.

It starts with you, and with me. I am ready to face the truth – today – and perhaps that is enough – for now.

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are  as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret  oaths, and to secret proceedings”. – John F. Kennedy

Natural Born Preppers

Fair Warning

You can say what you want to about lists and the scribblings of best laid plans. They are, after all, what you make of them, but one way or the other they are extremely important tools of the prepping lifestyle. You can read the article to Discover More Here. Ranks and scoreboards, on the other hand, are another entirely different kind of animal and we are not great fans of such compilations.

With that being said, we have just learned that we have been included on a special kind of list to us, and to many of you. Much to our surprise we find ourselves ranked in the top 35 of The Best Prepper Websites.

We would not be honest if we didn’t note that it is extremely rewarding to be recognized for our long hours at the keyboard when there are so many other pressing tasks at hand, and it does our prepper’s soul some good to be included among such dedicated and knowledgeable bloggers.

I don’t know why or how exactly we became to be known as “Prepper’s”, but apparently, “we is one”. I only know that somehow, some way, we seem to fit neatly and unceremoniously into such an untidy and relatively new category.

Like so many of you, we are a combination of many things which reflect our special skills and interests. We are hunter’s and fishermen, gardener’s and canner’s, homebrewer’s and husbandman. We love what we do within the rural lifestyle that sustains us, and we wish to share what we know and learn all that we can from others of like mind.

We reject many of the so-called modern-day values on the shallow and destructive face of them, finding more entertainment in the shenanigans of a chipmunk than we ever will in the video violence of the day. We have never been good at following, and we have done our best to avoid the suffering hordes. The only herds we wish to join are of the goats in the back lot, or the bugling elk on the nearby slopes.

We cannot help but observe that the major societal systems are broken; “Big Government” and “Big Food” and big, centralized anything is a beckoning bridge to nowhere, and we are doomed as planetary inhabitants if we do not return to honor some form of common sense and high moral values.

It would seem that a sad majority of people have now lost the steadying connection with all things real and are incapable of feeling the very ground beneath their uncomfortable shoes, and anything of the natural world is but some type of inconvenient truth. Yet through it all, the land and the mother of us all – waits.

If anything, our message to the uninitiated is that it’s time to get real folks, very real. You may not agree, but I can assure you that the future unpleasantness of unstoppable world events will no doubt see to that anyway, like it or not. It might be best to get a good jump on things in the “ready or not” department.

Still, the hour grows late. I am but one small, struggling voice, and I, like you, can only help mitigate in some small way the overwhelming feeling that something bad this way comes. Focused we are, and we shall do our part before the gathering storm.

Call us what you may, but we have only tried to live a life of sanity and sustainability upon a breathtaking blue ball hurtling with god’s speed through a mystical and limitless universe.

One thing we know to be true.

We wish to survive, as is nature’s way and the purpose of all living things. But it’s not about survival in our way of thinking. It’s about life. There is abundance, in us and through us – and everywhere – just take a good look around!

The world will not mind if we find miraculous joy in the simple things, and in so doing manage to thrive along the way. In that, we are natural-born prepper’s, and we wish to perpetuate that way of being as easily as a fox squirrel gathers and stores a bumper crop of autumn acorns.

Is there really any other way?

*As it happens, our ranking continues to climb, and we are now come in at number 25. Your support is much appreciated!

Words To Live By – And Never Forget

“I hereby reaffirm my oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and pledge my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor in defense of the principles of liberty enunciated in our Declaration of Independence, for which our forefathers spilled their blood.   We will not let the Republic fall without a fight”.

Pigeon Feed and Prison Time

Beware The Public Serpent

It has been reported recently that on one side people hire drug charge attorneys to combat drug misuse cases.Whereas on other side Chicago Alderman James Cappelman has a thing for pigeons and those people who feed them, but not in the way that you might think.

Apparently, some people feel that pigeons have become a scourge at Daley Plaza, and Mr. Cappelman is one person who would like to see them eradicated with prejudice.

But that’s not all. As stated by the Piotrowski Law serving Miami, he stands behind a new ordinance that would significantly increase the punishments for feeding pigeons. His legislation would make it a crime punishable by the criminal defense attorney salt lake city to a fine up to $1000 and a jail term as long as six months in prison.

Obviously, the penalties for unlawful pigeon feeding that currently exist under city code are simply not harsh enough and one must exact a pound of flesh where one can. Cappelman’s proposal doubles the maximum allowable fine and adds the possibility of jail time.

Now perhaps the idea of being arrested for the frivolous act of feeding a bird makes you pause. But they are quite serious in Chicago and Denver and New York and more and more places in this once free republic. It is an evil wonder of the ages. You can check out Tolland County locations if you need the best bail bonds from experts.

The first hand reports trickle down in a steadily increasing stream. Bureaucrats across the land are using administrative decrees and color of law to criminalize otherwise harmless acts in an effort to demoralize and intimidate average citizens. These so-called “authorities” now dictate what you may or may not do on your own private property or public commons. It is always done under the auspices and protections of the public good.

In some jurisdictions it is illegal to grow a home garden, tend a few chickens for some backyard fresh eggs, or even feed your local wild birds at your well weathered bird feeder and bird tables.

I’ve often wondered just how many laws and regulations that I unknowingly break each and every day. What would the founding fathers of the United States have to say about that?

I believe that they would just say no, and that they would shout it so loud that it would hurt the ears of mere mortals.

Perhaps a small protest is in order. But don’t resist too strongly, lest you welcome a visit from the now ubiquitous taser and the steady tap tap tap of that merciless river of pain.

Either way, there will be more senseless and dehumanizing laws on the books tomorrow. They will appear at the hand of those who make the rules as surely as hot fire loves the dancing flame. Found guilty until proven innocent, and without a jury of your peers, judgement will be swift and sure and may carry serious or compounding penalties.

The police state rises as you grab another hand of bird seed, and it will not rest until they make criminals of us all. This type of unmitigated power grab will only stop when “we the people” stand up and decide to stop it, one feathered friend, and one dangerous bureaucrat at a time.

After all, do you really wish to go to jail, or lose your life, over a hungry and hopeful pigeon?

*Color of Law n. – the appearance of an act being performed based upon legal right or enforcement of statute, when in reality no such right exists. An outstanding example is found in the civil rights acts which penalize law enforcement officers for violating civil rights by making arrests “under color of law” of peaceful protestors or to disrupt voter registration. It could apply to phony traffic arrests in order to raise revenue from fines or extort payoffs to forget the ticket.
