- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons sausage fat
- 1 cup boiling water
Mix well the cornmeal, salt, and butter, and add boiling water. Add milk and sausage fat and stir well. Drop on to hot skillet with hot fat. When cakes are bubbling, place skillet in 475-degree oven until brown. Serve with sorghum, honey, maple syrup, or good molasses.
