He has worked in a variety of capacities relating to fisheries and wildlife biology, water and environmental quality, and outdoor recreation. A lifelong shooter, bowhunter and outdoorsman, he has hunted and fished throughout North America. A used and rare book dealer for more than 25 years, he offers a catalog of fine titles in the fields of natural history, angling, the shooting sports, farming, and agriculture. “I have a passion for old books, slow food, pigeons, the pursuit of bugling elk, fish and game cookery, heritage poultry breeds, personal freedom, and the Rocky Mountains, to name just a few, and not necessarily in that order. I consider the White River National Forest of Western Colorado as part of my backyard”. Mike writes about an assortment of outdoor and food related topics. “I am particularly interested in the nexus between the desire to provide one’s own food, and the withering array of local, state, and federal laws and regulations which often stand in the way. It is the manner in which they all relate to the cornerstone issues of personal freedom and liberty that concerns me. For me, it’s where the rubber meets the road”.

Sometimes even a mediocre angler, like myself, lands a hook-jawed monster of the deep pools. The truth is I did battle with his bigger buddy too, but that is another story…

Prepper Pete – A Book For Kids

A Simple Message

“Prepper Pete Prepares” by Kermit Jones, Jr. is the first prepping book written exclusively for kids. “Designed to educate children in a language where they can be taught and entertained at the same time, this series highlights a handful of reasons to prepare in a simplistic, non threatening manner”.

It’s never too early to begin to teach a child a little independence and self-reliance. Wonderfully illustrated, it is a great read and a great way to help children understand prepping in fun and thought-provoking terms.

Preparedness is the key!

JFK & The Day The Earth Stood Still

I don’t know what truly happened on the day that our President…my President, was shot and killed on November 22, 1963. I was only five years old at the time, and at the moment before his death I don’t believe I had any knowledge of a man called John F. Kennedy.

That awareness changed quickly as the news reached out over the car radio and my mother swung to the side of the road and cried. With heavy heart I remember it as clearly as it was yesterday.

The light may never shine upon the full complement of dark forces that came together on that day of fifty years ago. I may never discover who was really behind the assassination nor the ultimate reasons behind it. I only know that the official story is a fabrication and a farce which continues to be perpetuated by a state-run media which wishes to keep me baffled, distracted, and demoralized.

I don’t need to have all of the facts in possession to know that I have been lied to. The story is so patently untrue that my instincts would never let me believe such blatant propaganda.

But I cannot deny the long-lasting effects of such an “in your face” open air execution. Like a bullet with malicious intent, It has colored my world and altered the trajectory of my life, and yours, in so many ways that we can never recapture.

The assassination of JFK and the ongoing coverup is the ultimate example of fantastic fairy tales and manufactured public denial. It is the four hundred pound gorilla in a room full of plotting politicians and warmongers incessantly manipulating the long arm of the out of control police state.

I don’t know if the general public can ever fully shake the apathy and ignorance so skillfully induced and directed. But I do have hope.

The truth is out there.

It is time to shake off our collective stupor; to absorb and embrace the most unpleasant reality and let the chips fall where they may. Things may get worse before they get better, but things must change. The only way to arrive at the truth is to first strip away all that is false. To do otherwise will only continue to fuel our debilitating personal weariness and shame and the national collective guilt from which we may never heal.

It starts with you, and with me. I am ready to face the truth – today – and perhaps that is enough – for now.

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are  as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret  oaths, and to secret proceedings”. – John F. Kennedy

Tuning Up The Mighty-Mini .17 Caliber

It is that special time of year again, and for many of us it can never come quite soon enough. The promise of a weather change hangs suspended in the air and the hunting season – our season – is just around the corner. A few lucky souls have already got their AR-10 upper parts as it has already begun for them, and in weather like this time is of the essence.

It’s time to oil up that favorite rifle that I bought through site well known for handgun revolvers for sale and send a few well-placed bullets down range. Of course, people of our persuasion rarely need an excuse to do a little target shooting, and there’s never really a bad time to brush up on the exacting skills of fine marksmanship. Besides, after buying the best tactical gear at Stratit Safety & Security DBA Practical Tactical, it is also a constructive way to get some sun on the face and some fresh air for the lungs, and it delivers a lot of bang for the buck in the fun department too.

Yet there is a most serious side to the right to keep and bear arms, and it becomes more and more obvious every day. There are those around us who obsessively scheme to take our arms away, and they constantly pick at the edges of The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. They are a constant reminder to the fact that like any critical muscle in the body, a right must be exercised to remain toned and ready.

Let us never forget that it is an inalienable right of all free citizens of the United States to keep the firearm’s of our choice, for the simple reason that we can. We earned it, or at least some of our ancestors did. My father shed blood for it – and for us all. Perhaps your family did too.

It is the quintessential sobering thought. This reality means that it is not always just about hunting or shooting, for to hold a gun in the hand is a great responsibility. You can also visit https://magnumballistics.com/product-department/accessories to defend yourself from all dangers. When in doubt just recall the images of the founding fathers, who were more than happy to record their opinions on the matter under threat of quick arrest and certain death. Their foundational actions have always held the obvious solutions for times like these.

I, for one, do not take their words lightly, and they continue to ring loudly with ultimate truth and inexorable consequences. How could anyone disregard the forewarnings of George Washington or Thomas Jefferson, or the thousands and thousands of patriots who laid down their one and only life for the life of liberty?

They also fought with unending fervor for the rights of those who simply wish to touch off a few harmless rounds in the privacy of their own backyards.

I sometimes think about these things with each tightening pull of the trigger, as well I should.

In the realm of what really matters it is an easy choice, after all.

“Live free or die” truly are words to live by.

“Use it or lose it” is not just a catchy phrase.

“Aim small, miss small”, I say, and pass the ammunition!

It’s time to get a little hunting in too.

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms, and be taught alike especially when young, how to use them.” (Richard Henry Lee, 1788, Initiator of the Declaration of Independence, and member of the first Senate, which passed the Bill of Rights, Walter Bennett, ed., Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republican, at 21,22,124 (Univ. of Alabama Press,1975)..)

“Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good” (George Washington)
